Around the time close to ovulation in the menstrual cycle, the blood estradiol, E2, level may increase the live birth rate in frozen-thawed embryo transfer cycles when transferring chromosomally euploid embryos.

According to research, in frozen embryo transfer, FET, cycles, patients often use supplemental estrogen medication before embryo transfer to prepare the endometrium.

However, serum estradiol levels can vary greatly among individuals. It is still unclear whether these differences in blood levels may change the endometrial environment and further affect pregnancy outcomes in FET cycles.

In the study:

Group A had blood estradiol levels below 300 pg/mL.
Group B had blood estradiol levels between 300–500 pg/mL.
Group C had blood estradiol levels above 500 pg/mL.

The results showed that, among the three groups, Group B had a significantly higher live birth rate.

The miscarriage rate and pregnancy rate were statistically similar among the three groups, but Group B showed a trend toward a higher positive pregnancy rate.

Conclusion:

During frozen embryo transfer, blood estradiol levels within the range of 300–500 pg/mL were associated with a higher live birth rate compared with lower or higher estradiol levels.
